Data source and updates

The cases shown here come from a public-access extract of NJ Civil Law Division case index data obtained from the Judiciary. The extract does not necessarily include every case type (some matters are excluded from public access under court rules).

Note: The run date of the Judiciary’s source file was December 16, 2025. Updates (including corrections affecting fields such as "Disposition") are reflected as of that date.

Special categories: 997 and 998

997 — Invalid / Unrecognized Case Types

Some records in the extract contain a 3-digit case-type code that does not match the Judiciary’s published case-type list.

998 — Not in Extract (Missing Docket Numbers)

Some docket numbers are missing from otherwise sequential docket-number patterns. In many instances, looking up a missing docket in the official system will show that the matter is confidential or otherwise excluded from public access, or that it relates to a prior-year filing, transfer, or consolidation. Because it is not practical to individually verify every missing docket, this tool groups them under 998 and displays the docket numbers with an explanation banner.
